SUPPORTING

CHILDREN

Support for Children Across Home, Early Childhood and School Settings

Practical, compassionate support for families, caregivers, early childhood services and schools

At The Inclusion Network, we walk alongside parents, caregivers, early childhood services and schools to support children with disability or additional needs to feel safe, understood, and included across the environments that shape their daily lives.

We understand that challenges don’t sit neatly in one place.

A child may be experiencing difficulties with behaviour, engagement, transitions, sensory regulation, or safety at home, in early learning, or at school, and often the adults around them are left trying to navigate this without enough guidance, time or support.

That’s where we come in.

We provide practical, real-world support to help make sense of what is happening, reduce risk, strengthen understanding, and build meaningful, sustainable inclusion.

Breaking

the cycle

When Children Are Being Turned Away

Many of the families and services we support come to us after a long and exhausting journey.

Children who have been:

  • turned away from services and schools

  • suspended or excluded

  • asked to reduce hours or attendance

  • labelled as “too complex”

  • moved from one environment to another without a clear plan

Often, there is no meaningful plan for re-engagement.

Instead, families are left to start again, navigating new environments, new educators, new peers, and new routines, while the underlying challenges remain the same.

Breaking The Cycle Of Starting Over

We understand how disheartening and overwhelming this can be.

Our role is to help shift this pattern.

We work alongside families, early childhood services and schools to:

  • understand what is driving a child’s distress, disengagement or behaviour

  • develop practical and realistic strategies that can be implemented consistently

  • reduce risk and escalation

  • support safe, meaningful inclusion

  • create a clear and collaborative plan for re-engagement

This is not about blame.

It is about ensuring the right support is wrapped around the child, so they are not continually expected to fit environments that are not yet equipped to support them.

Working Alongside Schools & Teaching Teams

We don’t work in isolation from the environments children are part of, we work within them.

Our approach is collaborative and holistic, partnering with:

  • Principals and Deputy Principals

  • Heads of Year

  • Inclusion Advisors

  • Teachers and Teacher Aides

We recognise that everyone involved wants the very best for each child.

At times, teams can feel stretched, unsure, or lacking the confidence or support needed to respond effectively, particularly when behaviours are complex or not yet fully understood.

Building Understanding, Not Punishment

A key part of our work is helping teams move beyond reacting to behaviour, and instead understand the “why” behind it.

When the “why” is unclear, responses can become reactive, leading to disconnection, frustration, or outcomes that don’t support the child long term.

We work alongside educators to:

  • build confidence in understanding behaviour and communication

  • explore what may be driving a child’s responses

  • develop practical, realistic strategies for the classroom and school environment

  • support consistency across the team

  • reduce escalation and repeated incidents

This is not about judgement.

It is about supporting educators to feel more confident, capable and equipped.

Wrapping Support Around The Child

We believe the best outcomes come when the environment adapts alongside the child, not when the child is expected to continually adapt on their own.

Our role is to bring everyone together, family, school and supports, to create shared understanding and a consistent approach.

This means:

  • wrapping support around the child

  • creating environments where they feel safe and understood

  • supporting engagement and participation

  • building independence and confidence over time

  • ensuring both the child and the adults around them feel supported

Because when the right support is in place, children don’t just cope, they begin to connect, participate and thrive.
